Are you a relatively new CERT graduate? A CERT alumnus who seeks to reactivate or become more involved? A CERT transferring in from a different jurisdiction? During this CERT Orientation, you will learn about the Fairfax County CERT Mission, Vision, and culture as well as the CERT Program Organization structure. If you are a recent graduate, congratulations on completing CERT Basic Training! We appreciate you taking the time to learn strategies to take care of yourself, your family, your neighbors and community during emergencies/disasters. We would love to see you more so here are a few next steps to continue your engagement with CERT:

This is a great opportunity to learn more about CERT as an organization and our operations, and various opportunities such as additional training, traffic and crowd management, emergency preparedness outreach, serving as a victim actor for first responders training exercises, radio operations and more! Bring your questions and a notebook. No CERT equipment is necessary. You must be a CERT Basic graduate to register and attend.

  • Meet fellow CERTs at our monthly program meeting on the 3rdTuesdays of the month at 7:00 pm.
  • Connect with your Area Community Team (ACT) which represents the geographic area surrounding the area in which you live aligned with the first due fire station. Please email teams@fairfaxcountycert.org with your name, phone number, address and a note to add you to your ACT. The Teams section leaders (Marco & Denise) will share your information with the CERT ACT station leader and battalion leader.
  • Use the Volunteer Management System (VMS) to register for additional classes and volunteer opportunities with CERT. Here is a brief video if you need a reminder on how to find and register for CERT opportunities. Using the Volunteer Management System
