Radio Team

The CERT Radio Team is a group of CERT-trained, licensed amateur radio operators, with expertise and experience they want to share, and encourage others wanting to be licensed. The CERT Radio Team members are part of Area Community Teams, available to support and assist with team drills and training. CERT radio communication is not limited to amateur radio use. CERT utilizes personal radio service like FRS, GMRS and CB as other invaluable resources during an emergency.

CERT Radio Team Workshops 
Informal meetings held to facilitate radio communications training and information sharing with like-minded individuals. The focus of the Workshops is to develop a CERT Radio Team that is experienced in emergency communications procedures and to ensure that the resources necessary are available to support CERT operations and training. The Workshops provide training drills and opportunities for CERT Radio Team members to practice their hands-on skills. All attendees are encouraged to participate in discussions and radio procedure drills.

A preliminary agenda is made for each CERT Radio Workshop to facilitate discussion topics, information sharing, training ideas, demonstrations, and equipment readiness.

Workshops are generally held:
4th Sunday of the month,
1200-1600 hours

CERT Station location is behind the Department of Public Works and Environmental Services (DPWES) Ox Road Transfer Station in Fairfax.

A hybrid meeting option (ZOOM) may be available for some meetings.

For those interested in obtaining an Amateur Radio License (Ham), the Arlington Amateur Radio Club (ARC) hosts monthly Volunteer Examiner sessions on the 1^st Sunday of the month at 12 noon at the American Legion Hall in Falls Church.
